Organization of the Society

All officers of the International Society serve voluntarily for varying terms. All have experience in and a commitment to international affairs as well as a commitment to the objectives of the society.

Board of Directors

The board of directors of the LDS International Society consists of professionals with international experience and expertise. Many of the board members represent the individual institutions that give support and financial assistance to the society to fund conferences, publications, staff, and other non-profit organizational expenses. Members of the board serve voluntarily to support the society and its aims.

Field Representatives

Interested International Society members throughout the world may assist by serving as Field Representatives. Being a regional or country representative does not exclude individuals from serving in other capacities such as Church positions or with BYU related organizations. Effective field representatives should be currently living in the area for which they represent, should be acquainted with "local" (in country) Latter-day Saint professionals with international experience and expertise, and have a commitment to keep in contact with the International Society office. The term of International Society Field Representatives is flexible. Their suggested primary responsibilities include:

  • Serving as a focal point for the International Society to inform colleagues and friends of our organization and its mission and encourage them to associate with the society
  • Submitting periodic news reports from their area regarding people, events, etc.
  • Encourage other LDS professionals, expatriates, and local nationals to check our website for publications of the society
  • Provide regular feedback on International Society conferences, publications, database, etc.
